Evans sets TVCC school record with 7 TD passes

Jerod Evans set a school record for touchdown passes in a single game Saturday night against Kilgore College. He threw seven in the Trinity Valley Community College’s 61-32 win at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.

He had previously shared the record at six with Eddie Valdez (1967) and Kyle Postma (2014). Evans tossed six touchdown passes against Kilgore in the opening round of the playoffs last year (a 55-35 win).

For the game, Evans was 21-of-26 for 365 yards. He also rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.

In two games against Kilgore, Evans has completed 44-of-58 passes for 676 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also has 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

For the season, Evans has completed 118-of-194 passes for 1,918 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also has 332 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 58 carries.

Evans is a 6-4, 225-pound Mansfield sophomore.
