Press release

On Friday, Aug. 19, Jannell Dunnington donated a low vision telesensory Aladdin desktop reading magnifyer to Park Highland Nursing and The Drug Rehab Agency.

Dunnington, along with her sister Rhonda Skiles and brother Calvin Taylor, wanted to donate the reader locally since they all live in the Athens area.

Dunnington said that they, as a family, have seen the difference that Park Highlands makes in the lives of their residents.

Director, Beau Humble, was already making plans for the residents to use the reader to look at pictures and cards they receive from friends and family.

The reader was donated by Dunnington, Skiles and Taylor in memory of their grandmother, Katie Willis, a long time resident of Athens. Willis used the reader when her eyesight began to fail in later years.

Dunnington said, “Our family wanted to honor our Grammie by giving her “reader” to Park Highlands in hopes that residents can reconnect with loved ones.”
