DAR Flag Burning

100_0515

Members of the Sarah Maples Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met recently at Suzanne Fife’s home to host a burning of the flag. These old flags have earned a dignified retirement when they no longer are pretty and falling apart. DAR has a service for each stripe and the stars before they are committed to the fire. It is a beautiful service and can bring tears to your eyes. The flag should never be thrown in the trash. If you have an old flag that is no longer useful give it to a DAR lady. Pictured are Margaret Ann Trail and Imogene Needham.
