The Athens Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (15 members attending) voted unanimously to support Athens ISD’s proposed $59.9 million bond last week.
Chamber President Mike Coston said the board members, “as business owners and members of the chamber,” understood the need for good schools to keep and attract business.
“One of the first things a business looks at when they are coming into town is the school system,” Coston said, “and if the school system is good, that helps attract new businesses.”
The board also took up a collection among its members for the bond political action committee (BACers) and raised $1,100.

How can a field house cost 10 M dollars? Is it only for football like the one now?
That section of the bond is not just for one field house .. it is for 2 field houses, new public restrooms and a new concession stand at Bruce Field.
