— Athens ISD will open at 10 a.m. Staff report at 9 a.m.

— Athens Christian Academy will open at 10 a.m.

— Athens Christian Preparatory Academy will open at 10 a.m.

— Cross Roads ISD will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Buses running 2 hours late.

— Eustace ISD will open at 10 a.m.

— Kemp ISD will open at 10 a.m. Buses running 2 hours late.

— LaPoynor ISD will open at 10 a.m.

— Mabank ISD will open at 10 a.m. Buses running 2 hours late.

— Malakoff ISD will open at 10 a.m. Buss running 2 hours late.

— Murchison ISD will open at 10 a.m.

— Martin’s Mill will open at 10 a.m.

— Trinidad ISD will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

— TVCC Athens campus will open at 9:25 a.m.

— TVCC Kaufman campus will be closed.

— TVCC Palestine campus will open at 10 a.m.

— TVCC Terrell campus will be closed.

BUSINESS/GOVERNMENT

— The Methodist Children’s Center will open at 9 a.m.

— Gun Barrel City Hall will open at 10 a.m.

— Lakeland Medical Associates will open at 10 a.m.

— Tiny Treasures Learning Center will open at 9 a.m.

— The Treehouse Growing and Learning Center will open at 9:30 a.m.

The following schools have reported delays/closings for Monday, Feb. 23

— Athens ISD will release car riders at noon, and buses will leave each campus three hours earlier than normally scheduled.

— Athens Christian Academy will be closed.

— Athens Christian Preparatory Academy will be closed.

— Brownsboro ISD will be closed.

— Cross Roads ISD will be closed.

— Eustace ISD will be closed.

— Kemp ISD will be closed.

— LaPoynor ISD is releasing at 11:30 today…and starting at 10am tomorrow.

— Mabank ISD closed.

— Malakoff ISD will be closed.

— Martin’s Mill ISD will be closed.

— Murchison ISD will be closed.

— Trinidad ISD will be closed.

— TVCC Athens will be closed.

— TVCC Kaufman (Health Science Center) classes will be closed.

— Gun Barrel City Hall will close at noon today and reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

TVCC to Play 4Kay on Feb. 14

For an eighth straight year, Trinity Valley Community College is teaming up with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

TVCC is participating in the WBCA’s Play 4Kay initiative, which began as “Think Pink” in 2007. TVCC has designated the Saturday, Feb. 14, game against Tyler Junior College at Cardinal Gym as its Play 4Kay event. Game time is 4 p.m.

The initiative is named in memory of former North Carolina State head women’s basketball coach Kay Yow, who died after a third recurrence of breast cancer in January 2009. The movement continues to grow and change lives, especially during February. Continue reading “TVCC to Play 4Kay on Feb. 14”

Athens Karate School Students Bring Home Gold

This past Saturday, five students from The Athens Karate School participated in a tournament in Frisco, Texas.  They  brought home 11 medals: eight gold and three silver.

The tournament was the 2014 Winter Games of Texas and is a part of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. This is a qualifying event for the State Games of America Championships in Nebraska this summer and the students are planning to go to that one as well.  Continue reading “Athens Karate School Students Bring Home Gold”
