Battle in the Valley this Saturday

BITV Poster 2014-page-0It’s Battle in the Valley time in Athens.

For the third consecutive year, Paul Benson and Virtual Communication Specialists are bringing one of the top football teams in the nation to Athens to play the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals.

This year, it is the College of Dupage from Illinois. The Chaparrals will be taking on the Cardinals at Bruce Field Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.

Before the game, Benson will be rolling out some of his high tech magic including four televisions and gaming consoles set up with “Destiny.” Virtual will also be grilling up some brats and have a bounce house for the kids.

The tailgate starts at 10 a.m.

TVCC Rodeo Team Opens Season in Panola

TVCC rodeoThe rodeo team at Trinity Valley Community College is off and riding and roping. In the first event of the season, sponsored by Panola College, the TVCC cowboys and cowgirls got off to a good start.

Cameron sophomore Keaton DeNio won the tie down calf roping with a time of 8.4.

Arp freshman Clay Sieber also took first place, turning in a 5.5 time in team roping.

Kacey Graham, a sophomore, placed third in breakaway roping with a time of 2.9.

“I am very proud of our team,” TVCC coach Brent Bratton said. “The first rodeo seems to set the pace for the season.

“God has blessed us with a great group of athletes and our expectations are high. We are thankful for the support the school and community. Without it, these students would not have the opportunities they do.”

TVCC Regiment, Cardettes in State Fair of Texas Parade

DSC_2074Trinity Valley Community College’s presence was felt in a grand way when the world-famous Cardettes and Cardinal Regiment band marched in the State Fair of Texas Opening Day Parade Friday in downtown Dallas. Thousands of parade-goers lined the streets as the procession made its way down Main Street, serving as the official open to State Fair of Texas.

Volleyball Fans Asked to Wear Blue in Support of NCTC

TVCC LogoTo show support for North Central Texas College, which lost four softball players in a horrific accident Friday night, Trinity Valley Community College is asking all fans attending Wednesday night’s volleyball game against Navarro College at Cardinal Gym to wear blue.

Also, the college is planning to sell blue t-shirts with all proceeds go to NCTC to help defray medicals costs of players injured in the accident, which occurred on I-35 in Oklahoma after a Lady Lions’ game.

A moment of silence, which will include the Lady Cardinals’ softball team joining the TVCC and Navarro teams on the floor, is planned before the start of the TVCC-Navarro contest at 7 p.m.
