The Trinity Valley Community College Department of Theatre presents “The Odyssey, A Play for Young Audiences” by Tom Smith through Friday, September 30, in the auditorium adjacent to the Orval Pirtle Administration building on the Athens campus.
Certified Nurse Aides are in high demand, and for those interested in beginning a medical career, CNA training is a great way to jump start your career. Trinity Valley Community College Continuing and Workforce Education department announces a fall CNA course to be held on the Athens campus, beginning with orientation on October 20. Those who pass the course are eligible to participate in the state of Texas Certification exam.
Multi-hall of fame and Heisman Trophy quarterback Roger Staubach will be in attendance on Saturday, Oct. 1, when the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals take on New Mexico Military Institute in the Battle In The Valley at Bruce Field.
Staubach, a former multi-sport athlete at NMMI, will be on hand to receive an award for his induction into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in August. He will be presented the award from his alma mater prior to the coin toss.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native attended NMMI to help him prepare for entry into the United States Naval Academy. He was a one-year student during the 1960-61 school year, a private in the 1st platoon and 2nd squad of Company G, and he participated fully in the NMMI Corps of Cadets, all while playing three officially sanctioned junior college sports: football, basketball and baseball.
Trinity Valley Community College’s Beef Cattle Show Team participated in the 2016 Four States Fair Livestock Show in Texarkana, Arkansas on September 12. In the Open Charolais Cattle division of the show, the team brought home three First Place in Class awards: TVCC MS JACQUELINE 160 in Junior Heifer Calves, shown by Madison Carney of Sour Lake; TVCC MS JAQUELINE 1503 P in Junior Yearling Heifers (pictured), shown by Mikenna Martin of Justin and TVCC MS LINDSEY 1453 P in Senior Yearling Heifers, shown by Emily Branch of Brownsboro.
Three Second Place in Class awards: TVCC MS JANET 1603 P in Junior Heifer Calves, shown by Jacob Dixon of Martins Mill; TVCC MS ASHLEY 1507 in Junior Yearling Heifers, shown by Britney Teel of Cameron and TVCC SUPREME THUNDER 1527 P in Senior Bull Calves, shown by Chloe Fontenot of Lumberton.
And one Third Place in Class award: TVCC MS MIKENNA 1609 P in Junior Heifer Calves, shown by Kelby Lawson of Brownsboro.
