Trinity Valley Community College Palestine history and government instructor Mike Young recently had his history textbook Growth of the American Republic published. The 506-page text was issued by Kendall Hunt Publishing of Dubuque, IA.

“I was frustrated that students would never read the assigned government textbook, so I decided to write my own,” said Young. “Knowing that students today will not sit down and read a 50 or 60 page chapter, I decided to make each chapter short, easy to read, with clear explanations of the essential concepts. I’m pleased when students say that Growth of the American Republic is the first textbook that they have read cover to cover, and that they actually enjoy reading it.”
