Eustace High School Teacher Arrested For Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor

A Eustace High School teacher has been arrested for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

On April 6, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office received information that Kennedy purchased or furnished alcohol to a minor, who was a Eustace High School student.

Through the investigation Henderson County Sheriff’s Officer Investigator Brad Gray obtained an arrested warrant from Henderson County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Randy Daniel. Kennedy was arrested and placed in the Henderson County Jail awaiting arraignment.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, Eustace Independent School District, and the Eustace Police Department.

According to jail records, Kennedy was arrested for driving while intoxicated in October 2012 and furnishing alcohol to a minor in March 2007.

Trinidad Police Department Resigns

The City of Trinidad lost its police force today.

Trinidad Police Chief James Cook confirmed that he and the department’s only other officer have resigned.

Sheriff Ray Nutt Issues Appeal to Citizens in Fight Against Crime

Responding to the increased number of citizens wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Sheriff Ray Nutt on Monday came up with a plan with Criminal Defense Attorney Vista CA and announced that Henderson County Citizens are being invited to become Associate Members of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas.

Membership invitations will go out in the mail over the next several weeks.

Associate Member funding allows the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas to provide critical training, technical resources, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues to law enforcement officers across the state. Two Arrested on Drug Charges

On Thursday, April 2, at approximately 9 a.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator Kendell Wellman, Investigator Billy Jack Valentine, Investigator Brad Gray, Investigator Robert Powers and Investigator Cayce Hampton attempted to serve a felony warrant on a subject believed to be at a residence on Hwy. 59 in Athens.

While at the location, Investigators located Angela Sheltman who had outstanding warrants from Athens Police Department. Sheltman was arrested for those warrants. Investigators also made contact with Phillip Conner who was also at the property. Conner was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamines and was placed under arrest.

A subsequent search of Conner’s residence led to the discovery of additional suspected methamphetamines. Both subjects were transported to the Henderson County Jail. During the bookin process. Sheltman was found to be concealing suspected methamphetamines on her person.

Sheltman was charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a third degree felony, in addition to her outstanding warrants. Conner was charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, over 4 grams under 200 grams.

Traffic Stop Ends With Meth Arrest

On March 31, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Investigator Kendell Wellman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violation on Hwy. 19 north of Athens. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ronnie Templin. Investigator Wellman conducted a search of Templin’s vehicle which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Templin was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Henderson County Jail. Templin was released from jail the following day after posting a $4,500 bond.
