Obituary: Dr. Ford Dixon

Dixon, FordMemorial services for Dr. Ford Dixon, Jr., 80, of Athens will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Dr. Dixon passed away on Friday, August 05, 2016 in Athens, Texas.

Ford was born on June 10, 1936 in Cherokee County, TX, son of Ford Dixon, Sr. and Kathleen Trammell Dixon. He married the love of his life, Mary Jeannine Stanford on December 31, 1962 in Austin, TX. A born educator and lecturer, Ford’s career as a teacher lasted 38 years. He was an adjunct professor at TCU, taught at Tarrant County Community College, was department head at Fort Worth Country Day for 27 years, taught at The Woodlands High School and finally at Montgomery High School until his retirement in 2006.

Obituary: Katherine ‘Lee Ann’ Hamilton-Douglas

Douglas, KatherineMemorial services for Katherine “Lee Ann” Hamilton-Douglas will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Johnny Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.

Mrs. Douglas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Lee Ann Douglas, 75, of Branson, MO was born on November 11, 1940 in Wellston, MO, daughter of Wilbur Henry Braucksieker and Velma Albert Braucksieker. She married Terry William Douglas on May 25, 1996 and was a construction coordinator for Sprint until she retired. She was a longtime resident from Athens and later moved to Branson, MO. Lee Ann loved to decorate for the holidays and loved taking photos. She loved all dogs, cats, and wildlife in general especially wolves, eagles, and cardinals. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Mr. Rhinehart went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

John Wayne Rhinehart, 66, was born in Saluda, South Carolina, son of Douglas Rhinehart and Gennie Matthews Rhinehart. He Retired in 1992 after 22 years as a SGT Major in the United States Army. He was Military Intelligence and Head of Officers School. After 15 years, he retired from the State of Texas at BETO Unit as a SGT Guard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and will be missed by all he knew and loved.

Obituary: Coy Delbert Rice

Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield, TX. Services are under the direction of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.

Coy Delbert Rice, 89, was born on October 25, 1926 in Forest, TX, son of James Arther Rice and Mary Eva McCright Rice. He married Alice Mae Collins on June 11, 1994 at Atoy Baptist Church and was an Aircraft Machinist and Lead Man for Vaught Air Craft for 45 years. Coy was a Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church as was in the Shepherds Sunday School Class. He loved hunting, fishing tournaments, but most of all, his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Baggett went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Tyler, Texas.

Keith Tanner Baggett was born on August 20, 1979 in Athens, TX, son of Kenneth Lee Baggett and Sarah Tanner Baggett. He graduated from Cross Roads ISD in Cross Roads. Keith loved his kids with all of his heart. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved roping, hunting, fishing, mudding and riding four wheelers, rodeos, and taking his babies out to eat. Spending time with his friends and family is what he loved most. Keith was a member of the Living For The Brand Cowboy Church, Athens Riding Club, and the East Texas Horse Show Association. He enjoyed spending time with his father making knives. Daddy was a great man and will be missed by all that knew him.
