Obituary: Andy Anderson

A Celebration of the Life of Andy Anderson, 82, of Athens will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Eastern Hills Church of Christ of Athens with Elder Danny Davis officiating.

Mr. Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 23, 2018 in Athens, Texas.

Lawrence David “Andy” Anderson was born July 30, 1935 in Dallas, Texas the son of Lawrence E. Anderson and Myrtle Oberg Anderson. He was a masonry delivery supervisor for TXI and worked there until his retirement. Andy was a member of the Eastern Hills Church of Christ and known as a family man that loved his wife, children and especially his grandbabies. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Obituary: Joey Bell

Funeral services for Joey Bell, 51, of Athens will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Troy Hollingsworth officiating.

Mr. Bell passed away January 22, 2018 in Athens, Texas.

Joey Dwain Bell was born September 25, 1966 in Dallas, Texas the son of Dwain Allen Bell and Betty Jo Eskridge Bell. He was a member of the Gateway Assembly of God Church and loved reading his bible with his wife. He was a truckdriver for E&A Construction and loved seeing the countryside. His love was music, playing guitar, harmonica, keyboard or singing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and going to the beach. He loved his family and will be missed by all he knew.

Obituary: Darleen Fowler

Darleen Fowler, 97, of Memphis passed from this life Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Athens, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday by Daniel Downey, Minister of First Baptist Church in the Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Leon.

Darleen was born on November 20, 1920 to Zack and Lessie Salmon. Darleen married Leon Fowler on January 23, 1942. They farmed near Lesley. She had lived in Hall County for over 94 years until moving to Athens.

Obituary: Lynn Sanders

Funeral services for Lynn Sanders, 68, of Athens will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with interment following at Rome Cemetery.

Mr. Sanders passed away January 22, 2018 in Grapevine, Texas.

Wallace Lynn Sanders was born December 8, 1949 in Athens, Texas the son of William Jackson Sanders and Willie Tom Wallace Sanders. He retired from Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative after 36 years as an Office Manager. He was a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge #165 and loved to read. Lynn loved camping and spent many years attending NASCAR races and traveling with his wife and group of camping buddies. He loved football, especially his Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M Aggies. He will be missed by all he knew and loved.

Obituary: Wiley ‘Bill’ Allen

Funeral services for Wiley “Bill” Allen, 82, of Malakoff will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church Malakoff with Bro Jody Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Malakoff Cemetery.

Mr. Allen went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2018 in Malakoff.

Wiley Thomas Allen was born December 1, 1935 in Henderson County, Texas the son of Robert “Bob” Allen and Era Arrington Allen. He was a salesman for International Paper Company and retired after 42 years of service. Bill was a great musician who played every stringed instrument made except a fiddle. He played the pedal steel guitar in numerous country and gospel bands all over the metroplex. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Malakoff and will be missed by all he knew and loved.
