Obituary: Carmen Mata

A funeral mass for Carmen Mata of Murchison is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens with Father Nolan Lowry officiating.

Carmen passed on April 3, 2018 in Tyler, Texas.

Maria del Carmen Rodriguez Mata was born July 7, 1968 in Carranco, Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosi, Mexico the daughter of Norberto Rodriguez and Maria Catalina Torres Rodriguez. She was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church, loved helping people especially her family and never expected anything in return. Carmen was a true homemaker in every sense of the word, loved cooking and spending her time taking care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother sister and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Obituary: Ricky Don Rogers

Graveside services for Ricky Don Rogers 59, Athens have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday April 6, 2018 at Carroll-Springs Cemetery with Ray Rogers officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Rogers passed away Tuesday April 3, 2018 in Athens.

He was born January 17, 1959 in Athens to the late Fred Harold and Ruby Lee Shumate Rogers. Ricky worked for Falkenberg Construction for many years and was a resident of Henderson County all of his life.

Obituary: Jerry Porter Hensley

Jerry Porter Hensley, age 79, passed away on April 2, 2018 at his home in Malakoff, Texas. He was born on May 14, 1938 to Louie Napoleon Hensley and Thelma Edith Humphries Hensley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, J. J. Council.

Jerry owned and operated Hensley used furniture in Athens for many years. He was known to be able to sell anything! He was a very giving and loving person that would literally give you the shirt off his back, if he knew that you needed it. He was a fun-loving man who always enjoyed a good practical joke. Jerry never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Michael Douglas Hill was born to Charles Edward Hill, Jr. and Lena Weatherford on February 14, 1948 in Velasco, TX. He passed away on March 30, 2018 in Athens, TX.

Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Boltinghouse. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hill; children: Buddy Hill and wife Angela, Wesley Hill and wife Katherine, James Eddins and wife Ashley, Katie Crofoot and husband Jon; sister, Deanna Benson; brother, Charles Edward Hill, III: grandchildren: Matthew Hill, Britne Curran and husband Chris, Keith Welch; and his great-grandchild: Carley Curran.
