Funeral services for Teressa Splawn, 56, of Larue are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the New York Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Godwin officiating. Interment will follow at New York Cemetery in Larue, Texas.

Teressa Lynn Splawn went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2018 in Larue, Texas.

Teressa Lynn Boyd Splawn was born May 24, 1962 in Athens, Texas the daughter of William Kenneth Boyd and Sarah Lela Isbell Edwards. She was an active member of the New York Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She worked at Morton’s Animal Clinic for 14 years, where she met her husband Stevie. She went to work for Cedar Lake Home Health and Hospice for over 21 years before taking a job with Choice Homecare and loved her job helping others by organizing events at Nursing Homes and Healthcare Facilities. Teressa was also part of the Henderson County APS Advisory Board to benefit the Silver Star room. She loved taking pictures and making memories with her friends and family. “Grammy” cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter and cheerleader, traveling to attend their ball games and livestock shows. They could always hear her whistle and knew she was in the stands.

Obituary: Phyllis Jo Cummings Dosser

Funeral services for Phyllis Jo Cummings Dosser 82, of Sweeney, Texas have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 23, 2018 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, Texas.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Willow Springs Cemetery near Athens.

She passed away peacefully on June 20, 2018 at Oak Village in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Obituary: Carolyn Rogers

Funeral services for Carolyn Rogers are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Brother Jim Lang. Interment will follow at Rome Cemetery in Athens, Texas.

Carolyn Maxine Rogers passed on June 18, 2018 in Athens, Texas.

Mrs. Rogers was born October 30, 1953 the daughter of James Clifford Morgan and Ruby Hailey Morgan. She was the head of Human Resources for A+ charter schools but first she was a great mother and grandmother. On her free time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. Grandma Carolyn loved her grandbabies and treasured spending time with them. She was a kind, giving, loving woman who will be missed by many.

Obituary: Garrett Smith

Funeral services for Garrett Smith of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 at Dogwood Church in Athens with Brother Dave McGee officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery in Athens.

Mr. Smith passed June 17, 2018 in Athens, Texas.

Garrett Otho Smith was born December 6, 1924 in Lampasas, Texas the son of Charlie Smith and Addie Ruth Barrett Smith. He was raised in the Methodist Children’s Home of Waco and at a very young age joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War. Garrett attended the Naval Guided Missile School in Virginia; served on numerous ships including the USS Fulton, USS Sperry, Compass Island and Observation Island. He retired as a Senior Master Chief after 26 years of dedicated service. He then became the Superintendent of New Construction and Electrical with the TDCJ and worked there for over 10 years. He was an active member of the Dogwood Church of Athens and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Athens. He grew up a boy scout, an eagle scout and the later in life he became the camp director of the Clements BSA Camp and an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America. He was avid golfer, loved life and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Obituary: Sammy Smith

Funeral Services for Sammy Smith of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Bethel Christian Church in Athens with Pastor Mike Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Sammy passed June 11, 2018 in Tyler, Texas.

Samuel Henry Smith was born March 13, 1956 in Henderson County the son of Samuel Polk Smith and Wilma Dean Boyd Smith. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church, loved music, playing the piano and was an artist who enjoyed painting. He loved spending time gardening and spending time working with all his flowers. Sammy was a loving son, father, brother and grandfather.
