When enough is really enough

Loretta posterBy Loretta Humble/Around The Town

I’ve been thinking about body size. I think about it a lot because I have been really proud of myself for losing 30 pounds in the last few months. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while but never could find the motivation to, but now I have! After following different diets and programs, like the weight loss program, I found a plan that worked for me and helped me shed a significant amount of weight, find more about from the latest resurge reviews.

I did it because I wanted to get the weight off my arthritic knee, so maybe I wouldn’t have to replace it. I’m not sure I’ve saved the knee, but in other respects, I’ve felt like I got a nearly new me. It was been wonderful fun every time I found I could get into another size smaller jeans. I gave away my men’s golf shirts and baggy jeans, which had been my normal attire, and started dressing like a normal person. I bought me some earrings. I bought some makeup, and sometimes I put it on.

I met a really nice (and trim) man that I now enjoy going places and doing things with. Could be he Continue reading “When enough is really enough”

Long Cove off to fast start after grand opening

Long Cove press release

Long Cove, a new private residential community on Cedar Creek Lake just over an hour away from Dallas, recently hosted a successful grand opening over Memorial Day weekend, selling more than 40 percent of waterside cottage inventory and 100 percent of custom homesites available in its first phase of development. Boasting gourmet food trucks, live music, children’s games, face painting, bounce houses, fly fishing lessons, Nautique wake board demonstrations and more, the open house-style event gave more than 1000 guests from the surrounding areas and Dallas-Fort Worth the opportunity to experience the Long Cove lifestyle.

Three Dallas School of Rock bands – Zeppos, Destroy on Contact and The Dean’s List – delivered all-star performances throughout the day-long event, paying tribute to some of the most popular musical talent of all time, including Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. The students, spanning from neighborhoods including Highland Park, Lakewood, Lake Highlands and Plano, also shared some original compilations, which were met with much support and excitement from the crowd. To honor the students’ musical accomplishments, Long Cove presented a donation of $1,500 to the organization.

“We were thrilled to have three amazing bands from School of Rock perform at our grand opening, and the passion Continue reading “Long Cove off to fast start after grand opening”

Around Malakoff: Private tours of the James Surls Sculpture Garden

Picnic Lunch

By Loretta Humble

Jo Ann Surls asked me to tell you that on a donation basis, she will take you or your group on your own private tour of the James Surls Sculpture Garden. I don’t know if you all know this, but this place is a treasure and on its way to becoming a national art attraction. Surely you all know by now that our own hometown boy, James Surls, is internationally recognized as one of the finest sculptors alive today. He and Jo Ann are doing everything they can to use this place to promote art and beauty in East Texas and in the process, memorialize Jo Ann’s husband and James’s father, Joe Surls.

It is really something important and wonderful to see, and it is particularly wonderful when you get your own private tour conducted by Jo Ann herself.

And for a little larger donation, she will even fix lunch for you. She is not going to pocket that money, but will give every Continue reading “Around Malakoff: Private tours of the James Surls Sculpture Garden”
