The Malakoff Education Foundation had their 3rd Annual Golf Tournament on March 7. The golf tournament was sponsored by Long Cove. Prizes were given for first, second, and third place as well as closest to the pin and longest drive.

The Athens High School debate team just won state for the second year in a row. Sophomores True Head and Matthew Hernandez took the UIL District 4A state title in CX debate on Saturday.
Sixty teams gathered in Austin Friday to compete in the 4A category. One day, eight rounds and 16 judges later, Athens emerged victorious.
“By quarterfinals, they were the youngest team remaining,” said AHS speech and debate teacher Nicole Cornish. Through every round, the judges’ decisions were in favor of Head and Hernandez. “They didn’t have a single judge vote again them. The Stingerettes will be in the country’s most famous parade. They competed at Legacy High School’s Showtime Dance Competition this weekend and brought home eight awards.

Their outstanding performance qualifies them to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
Athens ISD will hold registration for pre-K and kindergarten students on Tuesday, April 7, from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the District Support Center on 104 Hawn Street. Park at the back of the building off of College Street to enter the “Academic Achievement Center Adult Learning” room. Only kindergarten students who are new to AISD need to register; students who currently attend pre-K in the district do not need to do so.
