Athens ISD’s annual Back-to-School Bash is Aug. 13, 9 a.m – 11 a.m. at South Athens Elementary. The free event is open to all students, pre-K through 12, and their families. In addition to 20 organizations on hand to offer information and resources, students will have the opportunity to enjoy inflatable obstacle courses and slides. Many door prizes will be given away, including movie passes and a variety of restaurant gift cards, as well as hot dogs, chips, drinks and snow cones — all thanks to generous event sponsors. Local churches will be giving away pants, polo shirts and t-shirts. In addition, those students who pre-qualified through the HELP Center will receive free backpacks. Assistance will also be available for individuals needing assistance registering their children online. (Toni Garrard Clay/AISD file photo)
