Henderson County Polls Go Completely Electronic

EslateHenderson County voters should be aware that polls will be completely electronic for the upcoming election on Nov. 4.

Henderson County is using the Hart Interactive eSlate system. “The eSlate device is about the size of a legal pad and weighs just 5.2 pounds. The voter uses a rotary wheel to navigate through the ballot and select his or her vote. The rotary interface was chosen because it is more accurate and durable than touch-screen systems,” according to information released by the county.

Here is a video by Hart Interactive describing how to use the eSlate.

Voters who want a hands-on demonstration so they know what to expect can visit the Voter Registration Office, located at 201 E. Larkin Street, until early voting begins on Oct. 20.

Voters who meet the qualifications for Absentee Voting (voting by mail) will be eligible to receive a paper ballot by mail. To meet the qualifications, you must either be:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Disabled
  • Confined in jail
  • Expected to be absent from the county on Election Day and during the hours of the early voting period. Your ballot must be mailed to an address outside the county.
