Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club meeting scheduled
The Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club meeting is going to be hot. Fortunately we will have the fire department there. Actually that’s true. The program on Saturday, June 11, will be provided by the Payne Springs Fire Rescue.
This is storm season and they will explain their training, communications, financing and an overview of their volunteer organization. Also at this meeting we install the new officers and put together a long list of needs for our annual “Field Day” event.
Set for the last weekend in June, we once again will show off our skills at the Brookshire’s store in Mabank. If you want to operate or have any part of the event, please attend the meeting to get on the sign up sheet.
We meet the second Saturday of every month at the Mabank Café on Hwy 198 in Mabank. The meting starts at 9 a.m. but come earlier if you want a good breakfast and fellowship.
Formed in 1981, the Cedar Creek ARC has over 30 members from the Tri-county area. It maintains a VHF repeater system that provides hand-held radio coverage to hams in the lake area, and mobile and base coverage throughout the three counties. CCARC participates in the National Weather Service SKYWARN program and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. The club also provides classes to those wishing to join the ranks of Amateur “ham” Radio.
