Vaught Proclaims April 11 Clean Up Day in Athens

TVEC Gives Grant to Black History Committee

The Trinity Valley Electric Co-op (TVEC) Charitable Foundation awarded a $2,000 grant to the Henderson County Black History Committee. The grant was awarded on March 24.

The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded by donations from Operation Round-Up, which is a voluntary program that allows TVEC members to round up their monthly electric bill to the next whole dollar amount. The portion that is rounded up goes to the TVEC Charitable Foundation and may be used to award grants to local charitable organizations. All children need heroes but abused children must have superheroes willing to do the impossible with the unimaginable and make these broken children whole again. CASA’s annual 5K Superhero race brings to surface the need for volunteers and supplements the necessary funds to recruit and maintain the dedicated cadre that makes up our CASA volunteers. Are you interested in becoming a Community Sponsor for the Athens Farmers Market?

By donating as a community sponsor, you help support the market with equipment, increasing awareness of the market through merchandising and advertising, as well as helping to provide vital staff support as the market continues to grow. Community sponsorship allows the market leaders to bring the Farmers Market to the community twice a week: Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays from 4-8 p.m. The main season runs from April-November, which is a two-month extension from 2014.

Those who decide to become a community sponsor will be listed on the Farmers Market website with a link to your website, and will be acknowledged on the Farmers Market Facebook page each week during the market hours. Community sponsors will have the name of their business displayed in the market area at a minimum of 54 events this year. The community sponsor donation of $300 breaks down to $25 a month.

Malakoff Education Foundation Holds Golf Tournament

The Malakoff Education Foundation had their 3rd Annual Golf Tournament on March 7. The golf tournament was sponsored by Long Cove. Prizes were given for first, second, and third place as well as closest to the pin and longest drive.
