TVEC donation to the Arboretum

East-Texas-Arboretum-webThe TVEC Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $4,000 grant to the East Texas Arboretum.

This goal of the arboretum is to display, research and interpret the natural environment of the plant communities of East Texas and to provide educational activities for children and adults within the arboretum and botanical area. The funds will be used to update and replace plants in the pavilion area.

The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded entirely by TVEC members who participate in Operation Round Up.

TVEC donation to Henderson County Food Pantry

Henderson-County-Food-Pantry-webThe TVEC Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $5,000 grant to the Henderson County Food Pantry.

The food pantry provides food and goods to needy individuals in Henderson County. The funds will be used to purchase food for the pantry. They currently spend approximately $15,000 per month on food.

The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded entirely by TVEC members who participate in Operation Round Up.

Vaccination and microchip clinic scheduled

Friends of the Animals logoThe Friends of the Animals will host a low-cost vaccination and microchip clinic Saturday, Jan. 9, from 2-4 p.m. (but don’t arrive after 3:30).

Stomp Parkinson’s Disease for a Cure hears from deputy voter registrar

Ulysses GalvanStomp Parkinson’s Disease for a Cure held a meeting on Dec. 10, 2015 with Ulysses Galvan, Deputy Voter Registrar Clerk, explaining the importance of how they are now into checking out the signatures on the ballots. Parkinson’s has the ability to change a person’s handwriting. People need to be aware and notify your bank, and voter registration plus anyone else of importance. Mr. Galvan also spoke about Ballot by Mail Application for a whole year. Seniors 65, nursing home or even a college student living away from home may vote with an annual ballot after meeting the deadline. This has to be in their office in their hands on Feb. 19, not post marked but in their hands. For more information contact the Henderson County Voter Registration Office at 903-675-6149.
