Citizens of Athens and Henderson County,
As many of you have probably heard, the Cain Center is slated to close down on 12/31/16 for a major renovation project as the facility is turned over to the City of Athens. For many reasons, this is going to be a great thing for the facility, Athens, and Henderson County. Unfortunately, this means that the Cain Center, Inc. will no longer exist exactly as it does today and about 30 employees will be laid off at the end of 2016. While most employees know that this sacrifice is necessary for the continuation of this facility, we have families, mortgages, rents, car payments, and student loans to worry about. We need your help Athens and Henderson County!
I have created a Facebook page titled “Cain Center Employees” which is designed to be a talent pool showing current employees who have opted to have their information posted with a brief description of skills, abilities, and education. www.facebook.com/caincenteremployees.
Click on the EVENTS tab for information about each employee. From this page, local employers can look to recruit current Cain Center employees who are looking for work. Employers can also email me at [email protected] with information about jobs available or jobs that may be coming available soon so I can disseminate to our staff. Companies or organizations that would like to pledge support please email your logo to [email protected] so that I can post it on the page to show your support for the community. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for 30+ years of fun, exercise, and entertainment! Even though I have only been an employee here for almost 4 years, I grew up here and have many fond memories of the Cain Center! I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best employees I have ever met, and some of the most loyal. I’m not sure what the next chapter in the Cain Center/City of Athens facility will look like, but there are many smart members of our community dedicated to keeping the sense of the Cain Center alive for many years to come!
