The Brownsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees named Tommy Hunter as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools Monday. The appointment was made during a special meeting of the trustees at the Brownsboro ISD Administration Building. The trustees will now wait 21 days as required by law before making a final appointment.

“My wife Melinda, and I are excited to get started to meet the people and integrate into the communities,” Hunter said. “One of the big draws of Brownsboro ISD was the community atmosphere and we wanted to be involved in things outside of the school like community organizations, the churches, and the local businesses.”

“The district received over 50 applications for the position,”said Brian Bersano, Brownsboro ISD Board of Trustees President. “After narrowing the interviewed candidates and conducting second interviews, we are excited to announce Tommy Hunter as the lone finalist.”

Tommy Hunter will join the district with eight years of experience as a superintendent. He will be moving from S & S Consolidated ISD, which is north of Sherman. He has a strong belief in building strong relationships with students and staff members, and creating a positive environment that promotes the most comprehensive education possible for every student. The anticipated start date will be by July 1, but he plans to be in the district over the next two weeks before teachers and leaders leave for the summer break.
