Brant Cookston, 7-year-old Malakoff Elementary School second grade student, traveled to Amarillo on Nov. 4 to compete in the National Junior Bull Riders Association Finals. Competition came from all over the United States. After bucking off his first calf in Round 1, he came back with a vengeance to win the 2nd Round and also winning the short go round as well. He brought home the title of NJBRA Reserve Champion Calf Rider. He brought home $1,545 in total winnings, two Championship buckles, NJBRA Jacket, cap,bag, and a new necklace.

Brant will be leaving Dec. 2 to fly to Las Vegas to compete in the very first Mini Bareback World Championship to be held in conjunction with the NFR.
