Several Athens High School and Athens Middle School band students earned a place in honor bands during All-Region auditions on Friday and Saturday. The Association of Texas Small School Bands held the auditions at Rusk High School.
The following Athens Middle School Band members earned a place in the honor band: Yuvia Leon, Allison Martinez, Alexis Morales, Chelsey Young, Jadyn Harris, Baylee Deshazo, Leslie Alsobrook, Daniela Jimenez, Yulisa Lopez, Ana Barcenas, Valerie Sanchez, Kimberly Cleto, Ale Pedroza, Garrett Hayes, Mady Kitchens, Natalie Harrell, William Honea, Scarlett Martinez, Lucy Nolan, Katelyn Hanson, Jorge Camargo, and Maria Garcia.
The following Athens High School Band members earned a place in the honor band: Kay Solomon, Hanna Baker, Vernice Williams, Emily Werner, Breonna Jackson, Jessica Yancey, Brian Lookabaugh, Shawntae, Jacob Ickes, Ben van der Colff, Jonathan Bywaters, Gerardo Godinez, Robert Lenington, Russell Ingram, Mollie Davies, Jennifer Salazar, Alan Platt, Dakota Lindsey, Kolemann Dooley, and Eloisa Peredia. These students will give a concert at Tyler Chapel Hill High School on Jan. 17.
Eleven of the high school students were selected to advance to the area round of competition to be held in Tyler on Jan. 10. They are: Kay Solomon, Brian Lookabaugh, Shawntae Teague, Ben van der Colff, Jonathan Bywaters, Gerardo Godinez, Russell Ingram, Mollie Davies, Alan Platt and Kolemann Dooley.
