The last several months, Athens has seen significant commercial and retail growth. A number of new construction projects have been completed while several more are still on-going. This all points to a bright future for Athens.
The projects that have been completed are: Dollar General, JD Tenders, MooYahs Hamburgers, Mooreliscuious Frozen Yogurt, and Pizza Hut/Wing Street. Still under construction are Ag Power, Oak Wood Place, and Arabella. Just starting construction is Legacy Plaza.
Athens retail sales tax rebate from the Texas Comptroller remain strong through the first five months of 2013. Total retail rebates sales have increased by over 10 percent. This follows a strong trend of increasing sales in Athens. Athens rebates increased by 5.6 percent from 2011 to 2012.
All this points to a healthy economy and more opportunities for business growth.
