Services for Ruth Evelyn Redman, 92 of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Spencer and Rev. Charles Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Shelby Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Redman passed away November 16, 2014 in Tyler.
She was born September 30, 1922 in Oklahoma to Dewey Dewitt and Helen Eloise Teague Dobson. Ruth began her life in California where she retired as an office assistant from the State of California Supreme Court at the age of 70.Ruth moved to Texas in 2001 to the Plano area. She then moved to Athens in 2004 where she resided until her death. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family and her church family. She found great enjoyment in her family, music, crossword puzzles and had an especially strong affinity for Snickers candy bars.
Ruth is preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Dobson and sister Mildred Wise.
Survivors include her brother Dewey K. Dobson and Sheila of Clayton, California; nephews Ted Dobson and Nancy of Eugene, Oregon, Dennis Dobson and Larry of Henderson, Nevada; nieces Karen Johnson of Salida, California, Terry deJong and Mark of Dessert Hot Springs, California and Kimberley Stowell of Athens.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Carroll- Lehr Funeral Home.
