Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse reported two of his Deputies serving a warrant Wednesday ended up arresting two dealers with a variety of drugs in a Malakoff apartment complex parking lot.
“This job is about always being alert and aware of what is happening, and our Deputies day-in and day-out prove they are some of the best in the business at their jobs,” Hillhouse said.
Adrainna Nicole Romero, 27, was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle parked at the complex in the 200 block of East Mitchum Street.
Jamel Garrett, 30, was in the driver’s seat.
As Deputies Matt Jistel and Brad Beddingfield drove into the parking lot, Romero exited the vehicle, noticed the Deputies arriving and quickly returned to the automobile.
When Jistel approached, he noticed a plastic baggie containing methamphetamines in the driver’s lap and the smell of marijuana from an open window.
Inside the suspicious baggie were separate smaller plastic containers containing meth, cocaine and Xanax. Another baggie containing marijuana was also discovered.
The Deputies then found a digital weighing scale and a box with small, empty baggies – items commonly used to sell drugs.
Both suspects were charged for Manufacture of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Adrianna was also booked for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
