The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals held their first full-contact practice Wednesday at Bruce Field in Athens.
The Cardinals are scheduled to kickoff the season 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at home against Nassau Community College in the Battle in the Valley, sponsored by Virtual Communications Specialists President Paul Benson.
Nassau finished last season 10-0 and ranked No. 6 in the nation. The Cardinals finished last season with a 12-0 record and Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) champions. TVCC ended the year ranked No. 2 in the nation.
The action starts with a unique tailgating experience at 2 p.m. directly across Dul Averette Street from Bruce Field. In addition to your typical tailgating festivities, like food and friends, Virtual Communication Specialists is bringing a few special festivities for you to enjoy. These include:
– Four 46” TVs, outfitted with Xbox One consoles and a variety of games, with the ability to play online with one another
– A 65” TV for sitting back and watching SportsCenter or rocking out to Mario Cart on the Wii
– Music
At 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, the Weinstein Team will host Beef Before the Battle at the Cain Center, featuring guest speaker DeWayne Owens.
Owens is the founder and president of Maximum Motivation Training Systems. He is a career enhancement specialist, best-selling author, trainer, consultant and nationally sought-after motivational speaker.
The banquet is being catered by Danny’s BBQ. There will also be door prizes given away, including a brand new Android tablet and two season tickets to this year’s Cardinal home games.
Beef Before the Battle is free to the public, but the audience is being limited to the two schools plus 150. Come by the Weinstein Law office at 518 East Tyler St. in Athens to pick up a ticket and reserve your seat.
