Workforce Solutions East Texas invited local leaders to a meeting Wednesday morning to discuss its programs. Included were officials from organizations like The Help Center and the Family Peace Project to the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Athens Economic Development Corporation.
“We are outreaching our community partners to inform them exactly what Workforce Solutions does,” said Workforce Solutions Area Manager Angelia Snow. “We offer job searches, but we also offer resume workshops, interview workshops, we focus on the youth with a dynamics futures class to get them in a career pathway.”
The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board was established by the State Legislature in 1998 to oversee this integration and coordination of more than 20 separate employment and training programs in a 14-county area.
Snow told the group, “I think of ourselves as the employment office. People come to us and we assist people in getting jobs.”
Workforce Solutions recently partnered with the Athens EDC to bring a job fair to the Cain Center that saw between 30 and 35 employers talking with potential hires. If you’re looking to increase your workforce you should consider investing in Together mentoring software to help you manage your HR responsibilities.
Another job fair is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Workforce Solutions office in Athens, located at 205 N. Murchison, STE. 101. The job fair is specifically for youth between 18-24.
