Woman arrested for impersonating a police officer

On March 23, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies Zach Kennedy and Linus Moulton responded to a call at 3581 Peninsula in Chandler in regards to possible stolen property. While at the scene, Jennifer McGowen arrived wearing a “Texas Peace Officer” badge and a black semi-automatic weapon on her right hip. McGowen stated to deputies she was working as a patrol deputy at Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Linus Moulton contacted Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office later in the evening and determined that McGowen was not an employee of that county.

On March 24, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Captain Charlie Severn observed the report from deputies Kennedy and Moulton. An arrest warrant affidavit was prepared and Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Randy Daniel determined there was probable cause and issued an arrest warrant for Impersonate Public Servant, a 3rd degree felony.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Botie Hillhouse, Captain Charlie Severn, Investigators Kay Langford, Brad Beddingfield, and Deputy Ray Yockey went to 3581 Peninsula, Chandler, and located McGowen at the residence. McGowen was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Henderson County Jail.

McGowen was booked in for Impersonate a Public Servant, a 3rd degree felony, punishable by incarceration in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice up to 10 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

McGowen has not been arraigned nor has bond been set as of this press release.
