R. Scott McKee will move from the District Attorney’s Office to the bench in January.
McKee beat Marianne Warren Tuesday night, 9,361 to 3,890, to capture the 392nd District Judge’s seat in the Republican primary election. Because there is no Democrat candidate for the seat, McKee will be unopposed in the November general election.
McKee was quick to thank his supporters
“It’s very humbling when you see folks putting stuff on Facebook and signs in their yards,” he said. “It’s very humbling. Makes you really appreciate folks in the community.”
McKee also complimented Warren.
“I think Marianne was an absolute class act. I think we both ran clean campaigns. I hope we set an example for other candidates who run that you don’t have to get dirty and nasty,” he said.
Warren thanked her volunteers on her Facebook page Tuesday night.
“Thanks everyone for your support,” she wrote. “I did not win but it was a growing experience and I intend to follow up on my intentions to improve this county in any capacity I can.”
McKee said he still has plenty of work left in the District Attorney’s Office before he takes over the 392nd.
“I still have a lot of work to do,” he said. “I still have eight months as DA, with a few murder trials, so I’m going to focus back on that.”
