The news isn’t encouraging for people waiting for repairs to FM 317 near the Fish and Game Club Lake. The road was damaged extensively during torrential rains in May.
The TxDOT District Office in Tyler issued a press release on Friday saying: “The road will remain closed to traffic indefinitely as stabilization work is conducted and plans for a permanent repair to the dam are developed. This job is being coordinated with the Corp of Engineers and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).”
According to the press release, the contractor for the repairs is East Texas Bridge.
The news is better for roads in other parts of the county roadways that were damaged during this year’s rains and required emergency repairs. According to TxDOT:
– Repairs are underway on SH19N, a mile-and-a half north of Loop 7 at Third Caney Creek in Henderson County.Expect daily lane closures as needed. Fritcher Construction is the contractor.
– FM 3204 east of SH 31 in Brownsboro is closed for box culvert replacement. This contract is on schedule for completion later this month. The contractor is East Texas Bridge.
– The contractor is completing final clean up at FM 1616 from Loop 7 to FM 773 near Murchison.
Hmmm They were moving truckloads of dirt to that area for a few weeks. A LOT of dirt. Enough to have built a new dam… but they still don’t have a timeline for opening?
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AS A TAX PAYER IN HENDERSON COUNTY ON 4 PROPERTIES ~ WHY!!! THIS IS UNHEARD OF AND IF THE DELAY IS BECAUSE OF ENGINEERING A BETTER DAM FOR ATHENS FISH AND GAME THEN LETS LET THE PRIVATE CLUB MEMBERS PAY THE BILL~I AM NOT FOR SUPPLYING A PRIVATE CLUB A DAM FOR PRIVATE LAKE USE~I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A PETITION ON THIS ONE~BUILD A BRIDGE OVER THEIR DAM AND LET THE ATHENS FISH AND GAME MEMBERS WORRY ABOUT REPAIRING THE DAM!
