TxDOT crews will address maintenance around culverts on various roadways including, SH 31E in the Murchison area; FM 2494 near FM 753; and on SH 198 near FM 316 this week. Crews will also be doing base repair work on FM 2709. Expect lane closures with flaggers conducting traffic control.
Elsewhere, FM 317 in Athens remains closed with traffic detoured due to damage the roadway sustained during stormy weather conditions last spring. A washout occurred three miles east of SH 31. The plans for the permanent repair project are complete and will go out for bids in February with construction expected to start in April. Repairs should take about two months to complete, weather permitting. This job is being coordinated with the Corp of Engineers and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
