The following was posted on the Trinity Valley Community College Facebook page Thursday night:
TVCC President Glendon Forgey has confirmed that after contacting and receiving assistance from State Senator Robert Nichols and State Representative Lance Gooden, that TxDOT has committed to installing a 4-way stop at the intersection at the corner of Dean Street and FM 2494. Randy Hopmann, TxDOT District Engineer, advised Dr. Forgey that TXDOT is working on a solution that would allow a 4-way stop condition and provide for pedestrian push buttons with LED flashing lights when a pedestrian is crossing the road. TxDOT will restripe the intersection because with a 4-way stop more than one crosswalk is necessary.
TxDOT engineers and technicians will be at the location next week to re-evaluate the intersection.
A special thanks to Senator Nichols, Representative Gooden, and TxDOT District Engineer Randy Hopmann for helping to keep our students safe.
