Trinity Valley Community College students have been partnering with the community in collecting canned goods around the Thanksgiving holidays for 35 years.
Your chance to be a part of this special outreach is fast approaching.
TVCC students will be out in full force to collect canned goods on Thursday, Nov. 20, beginning at 6 p.m. Students will be placed in groups of four to five and cover all major neighborhoods in Athens. Because of the long-standing tradition, the turnout among student organizations and athletic teams is strong.
“This is one of our bigger community service events of the year, but our students are serving our local community on a regular basis,” said TVCC Director of Student Engagement Blake Williamson. “It is our hope that our students will find joy in serving others while at TVCC and continue to serve others throughout their lives.
“We’re looking forward to another great canned food drive this year with the support of our local community.”
Students will deliver the canned goods the following day to the Athens Food Pantry.
