Trinity Valley Community College’s Business and Computer Science department recently presented Occupational Skills Awards to three students. Tony Biernacki, Angel Moore and Brenda Votolato all received the OSA in Entrepreneurship and have completed the Small Business Management Certificate. Moore will also receive her Associate of Applied Science degrees at next week’s spring graduation ceremonies. One student not present, Lennie Milczanowski will receive the OSA in Accounting and take the Intuit QuickBooks Certified user certification.
The Occupational Skills Award in Entrepreneurship is the beginning of the stackable credentials that a TVCC student can pursue and gain entry-level employment skills in Business and Management. Business owners or managers looking to make their job easier may want to consider the PEO software, as described over on quicksprout, which helps with all manner of HR responsibilities. “These students will also be taking the Entrepreneurship Small Business (ESB) industry certification to enhance their resume,” said TVCC Management Instructor Dorothy Hetmer-Hinds. “The next career pathway would be for the students to progress to a Small Business Management Certificate or AAS degree in Management. I have seen an increase in their confidence level and watched these students continue to pursue their career pathways in areas they are passionate about. It has been very rewarding.” The certificates were awarded during the annual meeting of the Business and Management Advisory Committee on Monday, April 30.
