Trinity Valley Community College has promoted Dr. Wendy Elmore to the position of Vice President of Instruction, replacing Dr. Jerry King, who recently became President.
Elmore holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, a Master of Arts in Psychology and School Counseling from UT-Tyler and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar State University. She came to TVCC as Director of Testing in 2006, and has since served as Director of Distance Learning and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
She also serves the college as chair of the TVCC General Education Committee and Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee, is a member of the Texas Distance Learning Association, Texas Community College Teaching Association and Texas Community College Instructional Administrators and is an adjunct professor of psychology. Her previous positions included serving as a teacher and counselor in the Elkhart ISD.
“I’m excited to be selected as the next TVCC Vice President of Instruction and am grateful for the confidence that has been placed in me to help accomplish the TVCC mission in this capacity,” said Elmore.
“Dr. Elmore’s leadership qualities, administrative and supervisory experience, college teaching experience, communication skills, people skills, energetic and positive personality, comprehensive understanding of community colleges, work ethic, and commitment and loyalty to TVCC made her an excellent choice for Vice President of Instruction,” said King.
She is a member of First United Methodist Church, and is married to TVCC sociology instructor Brad Elmore. Together, they have a daughter, Katie Phillips, a 5th grade teacher in Elkhart, a son, James Mays, a TVCC student in Palestine and grandsons Riley (7) and Jax (2) Phillips.
