The Agriculture Power Units class at Trinity Valley Community College recently completed rebuilding a pair of 1952 8N Ford tractors. They were both fun projects that took everyone’s participation and knowledge to complete, and three students received trophies made of parts off the projects. In these kinds of tractor rebuild projects, getting a fresh pair of tractor tires is, of course, a great place to get the vehicles looking as good as new. The tractor on the right in the photo is equipped with a flathead V-8 engine taken from a 1951 Ford pickup, and will be on display at the Cain Center in Athens during the 52nd Annual Farm and Ranch Tour in May.
Students Taylor Davis and Don Hatton received outstanding student awards, and Jake Boyd was named outstanding I&T student. Pictured left to right are Coach Bratton, J. T. Quezada, Chris Coleman, Leland Kirchmeier, Don Hatton, Forrest Lane, Jake Boyd, Taylor Davis, Lindsey Beaver, Jennifer Jones and Cally Cox.
The Agriculture Power Units class is held each spring on the Athens campus. For more information, contact Brent Bratton, (903) 675-6354.
