Sheriff’s Office press release
Tuesday, Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said two of his deputies arrested a Tool man Monday for possession of methamphetamines.
“This was a routine call,” Hillhouse said. “Deputies Wayne Nutt and Kenny Collard responded to a report of a suspicious person on Porthville Drive in the Payne Springs area of Henderson County. When they got there they found Smith in possession of suspected methamphetamine. We are always on guard protecting the people of this county.”
Stephen Joel Smith from the Tool area of Henderson County was arrested after the deputies made contact with him and found that he was wanted for outstanding warrants.
While placing him in custody, Deputy Nutt discovered suspected methamphetamine in his pocket.
Smith was taken to the Henderson County Jail and booked on the outstanding warrants and possession of a controlled substance.
If convicted, he faces a sentence of up to two years but not less than 180 days in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
“I know illegal drugs are a root of the problems we face as a society,” Hillhouse. “That is why it is this Office’s mission to continuously work on this problem in our county.”
