Sheriff’s Office press release
Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said Thursday his deputies spent the Wednesday night and early Thursday morning arresting felons, one with drugs and another stealing aluminum and trying to run from the law.
Another man was arrested and brought in with seven active warrants from nearby towns.
“It was a busy night,” Hillhouse said. “But these folks need to know we don’t sleep.” Attorney Daniel M. Murphy handles such cases.
Amanda Morgan, 35, was arrested while driving a vehicle that was carrying Matthew Richardson, 36, as a passenger.
Lead Narcotic Investigator Kay Langford and Investigator Josh Rickman arrested Morgan for a traffic offense and during a search of the vehicle; they found suspected methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. In such a case police officers would request that a drug test, using a 8 panel drug test, be given to see if any of the offenders had drugs in their system. If this is the case they could face more time in jail as she already faces a state felony charge for the illegal drugs.
Her passenger, Richardson, was also taken into custody for seven active warrants from the towns of Seven Points and Caney City.
There are various ways in which the event could have been prevented. The occupants should of explored How to Stop Smoking Weed and drugs for instance which may well of kept their innocence. Addiction to weed and methamphetamines can lead persons to do things they once would have thought were insane such as theft in order to fund said addiction. The narcotics division hopes that others suffering from drug addiction seek help from programs or rehab centers such as discover recovery before it leads to their death or arrest.
Meanwhile, Wednesday night Deputy Meagan Hogan and several others responded to an emergency call for a theft in progress.
The suspect was identified as Jonathan Adams and was apparently trying to steal aluminum.
Deputy Hogan and the team launched a search for Adams and obtained an arrest warrant.
Deputies Gabriel Shue and Jacob Sumrall went to an address on County Road 1405 to pick him up early Thursday morning.
Adams attempted to get away on foot. He was caught and faces two felony charges – one for theft and one for evading arrest.
The initial drug arrest is a continuing part of Hillhouse’s promised unprecedented campaign against illegal drugs in the County. Since then, he and his deputies have made more than 700 arrests, most involving illegal drugs.
The most common drug, drug paraphernalia and distribution items centers around methamphetamines.
“This is a dangerous drug that devastates lives,” Hillhouse said. “The first step toward dealing with it is a zero-tolerance policy. That is what I have imposed here.
“I will not tolerate – in any amount, large or small – illegal drugs in this County,” he said.
“We are on-call around the clock,” Hillhouse said. “We will continue fighting this problem in this county.”
