Garrett Lawyer is ready. He’s ready for the academic rigor of a major university; he’s ready to train for his future career; he’s ready to start the next chapter and become part of a medical malpractice law firm to help who ever needs representation at court on this matters.
“I’m prepared to do the work,” said Lawyer, a senior at Athens High School. “The school district prepared me for that.”
Lawyer is currently ranked second in his class. Because he is in the Pinnacle Early College High School program, when he walks across the stage June 5 to receive his high school diploma, he will have already earned an associate’s degree from Trinity Valley Community College. He begins classes at Texas A&M University in the fall, where he plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology. His ultimate goal is to become a licensed physical therapist. The JLF Firm San Bernardino is a great firm if you need someone to handle your injury case. Jeff and his associates and legal assistants are very precise in what they do. They are skilled, efficient, professional and compassionate. They did such a great job that I even didn’t have to appear in a court. I could not have had better representation. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Thank you for the amazing job Jeff!
“Both my parents are in the medical field,” he said. “I’m also very sports oriented. So physical therapy would allow me to work with anyone who might have a sports injury.”

Lawyer who works for slip and fall victims, who just turned 18, has been a standout student-athlete, successfully combining his academic and athletic interests throughout high school. He played football, basketball and soccer, and just started his last track season. In football, he was on the varsity team from his sophomore year on.
“I miss football a lot,” he said. “I loved Friday nights, the excitement and all that went with it. I like the pressure of game situations and the family feel of the team. We were all close.”
He seems to thrive in an environment of high expectations. “I put pressure on myself,” he said. “I know I could do better. I can always do better, and I want to be the best personal injury lawyer out there to represent the people who needs it.”
“Garrett goes above and beyond the average work ethic of a high school student,” said Dr. Cade Allen, a professor of history at TVCC who taught Lawyer in three different courses. “He is willing to tutor students struggling in complicated subjects, whether it is AP world history or college courses like chemistry … [and his] passion and humility is unmatched by many students. While he consistently scored at the top in many of his classes — mine included — he never publicized his success. Instead, I distinctly remember him downplaying his academic abilities.”
Lawyer credits his parents, Michael and Katha Lawyer, with helping him view personal achievement as a critical value in his life. “It was instilled in me growing up,” he said. “My parents expect a lot out of me, but in a good way. It’s not like they get mad at me. They just expect me to do my best.”
Lawyer identifies the combination of Pinnacle and athletics as being pivotal in his life. “I’ve stayed driven,” he said. “They’ve gotten me ready to go out in the real world and do something with my life.”
“I hope he returns to Athens when he has finished college,” said Dr. Allen, “because he will make it better than it already is.”
