“The Athens office will be closed while cleanup and repairs are underway. At this time we have no estimate of how long that will be. The Gun Barrel, Kaufman and Wills Point offices remain open,” said Jeff Jordan.
Some local residents thought a tornado may have hit and that was the cause of the roof damage, which will need assesment by a company similar to roof repair Round Rock, but city officials said no.
“We do not believe there was a tornado. There were none spotted here that we have knowledge of, nor were there reports given to us by any other agency including the National Weather Service,” said City Manager Philip Rodriguez.
“It is clear we had heavy, damaging winds. Thankfully, all damage appears to be to property only, with no injuries or loss of life,” he added.
