The Pinnacle Women’s Club (PWC) scholarship committee members, Chairman Lee Durso, Eunice Hamlin, Marlene Ungarean, and Gail Fankhauser, selected this year’s scholarship recipients. These students were from Mabank, Eustace, Malakoff, and Athens school districts. The committee chose five very deserving recipients based on the class rank, SAT/ACT scores, financial need, and recommendation letters. Each of the five students graduated with honors with at least a 3.5 GPA. Each of the students will be awarded a scholarship for one year.
Carly Copeland, Eustace High School’s 2015 Valedictorian, plans on majoring in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University. She is a member of the National Honor Society, played many sports, and has 48 hours credit from TVCC.
Christen Hoelscher, graduates from Mabank High School with the intention of pursuing a degree in accounting. She is a member of the Natinal Honor Society, played sports for four years, is active in church activities.
Garrett Sawyer is number two in his Athen High School senior class of 202. He has been involved with sports and has served three years on varsity. He is in the National Honor Society and has earned 50 hours dual credit at TVCC graduating with honors in an Associate of Arts Degree. His interest is in a physical therapy career at Texas A & M.
Alexis Lassiter is number four in her graduating class at Athens High School. She has interest in theater, speech, and debate. Alexis plans to focus on mechanical engineering at the University of Texas, Austin.
Pinnacle Women’s Club is dedicated to help recipients with their monetary needs as they pursue a college education. Thanks to the PWC Garage Sale and to the community support for the sale, we are able to give these added one-year scholarships . We have several students who are receiving scholarships that will continue until they complete four years of college.
