Obituary: Willetta C. Tackett

Willetta C. Tackett passed away in her home in Athens, Texas Tuesday, January 8, 2019. She was 85 years young. Willetta was born July 9, 1933 in Comyn, Comanche County, Texas to Rich and Dita Cowan. She was a graduate of Dublin High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Wyndel Tackett. Together, they became an inseparable team. She worked at the Texas A&M University Library while Wyndel was pursuing his degree. While raising 4 children, Willetta worked various jobs; a bookkeeper for family businesses, Tax Collector for LaPoynor School District, and perhaps her most beloved job, that as a Rancher’s Wife. In that capacity, she was a team of one, feeding hungry cowboys, nursing bumps and bruises, and overall providing a calm hand in what was often a hectic lifestyle.

Obituary: Beverly Robertson

Funeral Services for Beverly Robertson, 62, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Cross Roads with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery.

Beverly passed away on January 9, 2019 in Athens.

Beverly Ann Robertson Arthus was born January 4, 1957 in Athens, Texas the daughter of James Laroy Arthus and Eddie Laquieta Stephens. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Roads and lived in the Henderson County area her entire life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.

Kemp woman arrested on meth charges

Press release

A mid-day drug raid by Sheriff Botie Hillhouse’s narcotics team ended with a Kemp woman behind bars for dealing a substantial amount of methamphetamines.

Lisa Lou Greer, 58, of Kemp was arrested Tuesday at 1 p.m. when Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in the 20000 block of Bernie Drive north of Seven Points in Henderson County.
