City of Trinidad Boil Water Notification

The City of Trinidad announced a Boil Water Notification on the city’s Facebook page Tuesday morning. The post reads:

Due to conditions at Lone Star and McEntire which have occurred recently in the water system (loss of pressure), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify the City of Trinidad’s water customers south of Eaton Street along McEntire, Harold’s Trailer Park, Lone Star and Tempie Road to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you.

If you have questions regarding this matter you may contact Jeff Goodwin, Crew Leader, at 903-477-1775 or City Hall, 903-778-2525. If a customer wishes to call TCEQ, please call Angela Hicks (903) 535-5100.

Keeping Lawns and Landscapes Healthy

Rick Hirsch

We are fortunate to have a number of flowering annuals available that will withstand out hot, dry summers. Marigolds, zinnias, periwinkles, cleome, portulaca, gloriosa daisies, and globe amarinth are all extremely heat tolerant, and well adapted to our environment. Castor beans will provide huge masses of tropical foliage in green, bronze or purple, with minimum effort. For shaded areas, chose from impatiens, begonias, caladiums or coleus. All these are available in a variety of foliage or flower colors to suit most any scheme. Moon flowers and morning glory vines may be planted from seed and when grown in arbors, provide shade and flowers later in the summer.

Summer is a time for enjoying the landscape. By carefully selecting and placing colorful, easy-to-grow annual flowers and some minor arborist assistance, you can make our outdoor areas more attractive, and still have plenty of time to relax. Although if you need professional help, you can always contact company like Legion Landscaping for comprehensive landscape designs and installations.
