On Tuesday, July 7, at approximately 5:01 a.m., Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy Michael Cheseldine performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot in Athens. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Carl Brent Morse from the Chandler area. He was arrested on two warrants out of the Athens Municipal Court. Ham Radio Demonstration A Success

The last weekend of June, each year, thousands of Amateur “ham” Radio operators leave their comfort zone and literally head to the field to test their skills and equipment.
The Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club was invited by the Mabank Brookshire’s store to set up the event next to their store, and the club happily did. Body Found in Cross Roads Area
Henderson County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed this morning that the body of a man was found in the Cross Roads area Sunday afternoon.
The body was found either on or near the property of David McCan, 49, who has been missing since June 11.
Chief Deputy Botie Hillhouse said the body have not been positively identified at this time, and has been sent to the medical examiner for autopsy.
“We have to go through the steps for identification,” said Hillhouse. “We are waiting on the medical examiner.”
The body was found during a search of McCan’s property by friends and family.
McCan was reported missing by family after he disappeared without any word on June 11. Both his truck and motorcycle were left behind as well.
Obituary: Marie Tedford
Graveside services for Marie Tedford, 79 of Brownsboro are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Jennings Mountain Cemetery in Brownsboro with Pastor Terry Nesmith officiating. Services are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tedford passed away July 2, 2015 in Chandler.
She was born July 19, 1935 in Brownsboro to William Thomas and Mary Ella Harrison Speer. Marie was a lifelong resident of Brownsboro. She was a member of Brownsboro Assembly of God Church. She loved walking around town visiting with everyone . Marie loved watching westerns on television.
Survivors include brother Wesley Speer and wife Carolyn of Duncanville; her beloved dog “Shorty” and numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary: Edwin H. Walker
Funeral services for Edwin H. Walker, 85, of Athens, Texas, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Black Jack Community with Bro. Elvin Adair and Bro. William Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery.
Mr. Walker passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Athens, Texas.
Edwin Horton Walker was born February 6, 1930 in Murchison, Texas the son of Walter W. Walker and Ida Lee Findley Walker. He attended Brownsboro Schools before joining the United States Army and being Honorably Discharged in 1954. During his service he received membership to the 24th Constabulary Squadron of the Border Legion for Exceptional and Distinguished Service along the U.S. and USSR Border of Germany on a National Security Mission between 1951and 1952. Upon his return he married the love of his life Ethel P. Craker on July 13, 1957. They resided in Pleasant Grove for 38 years; he worked at General Motors, Security Engineering, T.F. Tigert Manufacturing and at TEPCO Manufacturing after retiring with Forney Engineering in Dallas. Ed enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, watching football and especially watching old western movies. In his early years he enjoyed car racing at the dirt track and he owned a couple of horses. He was glad they moved back to the country, his home place in the Black Jack Community. He was proud of his two grandsons and five granddaughters, always perking up when they came to visit. “Paw paw” as he was lovingly called always had a hug, some “shugars” and good humor to share. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was baptized in Woodrow’s Mill Pond. He was a family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.
