Obituary: Evelyn Blount

blountEvelyn Blount passed away Aug. 3, 2015.

Evelyn Blount was born in San Antonio, Texas and lived there for 82 years. She moved to Malakoff in 2004.

She had four children, Charley Webb in Dallas, Bev Holipski, Athens, Gary Blount, Waxahachie and Doug Blount, Johnstown, Colorado. She had nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several loving extended family and friends.

We all loved her immensely and will miss her wonderful sense of humor and love.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 at the Mission Park South Funeral Park in San Antonio. Guests will meet at the office and the office will guide us all.

For the third consecutive year, the Weinstein Team is helping to kick off the Trinity Valley Community College football season with a banquet.

This year’s Beef Before the Battle is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Cain Center and will feature guest speaker DeWayne Owens.

Military News: PFC Clint D. Sharp

PFC Clint D. Sharp graduated from Marine boot camp in San Diego, Calif.

Clint is the son of John and Therese Sharp, and the grandson of T. A. and Elizabeth Sharp and Ray and Pat Rogers, all of Athens.

Clint will leave Aug. 11 for combat training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego.

Clint graduated from Athens High School and Trinity Valley Community College, both in 2011.

Open auditions scheduled at HCPAC

The Henderson County Performing Arts Center is holding open auditions for the comedy “9 to 5: The Musical.” Roles are for eight females age 20s to 60s and eight males 20s to 60s. The musical is based on the mega-hit movie 9 to 5 starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin. Auditions are cold readings from the script and learning and performing one song from the show. No preparation or experience is necessary. Performance dates are October 1-10.
