Obituary: Archie Lee Clayton

Funeral services for Archie Lee Clayton, 85 of Brownsboro have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Welch and Bro. Danny Bristow officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Private burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Brownsboro.

Archie was born and raised in the Brownsboro area and graduated from Brownsboro High School in 1952. Archie worked for Lone Star Oil & Gas for 10 years and Hunt Oil Company for 28 years. He was 10 years old when he started going to Rock Hill Baptist Church making him one of the longest attending members. He served as a Deacon for many years and was a member of the Texas Baptist Church Builders Association. His hobbies included working, listening to bluegrass music and playing dominoes.

Athens Masonic Lodge blood drive exceeds goal

Athens Masonic Lodge #165 hosted Carter BloodCare for a blood drive at Brookshire’s on Saturday, August 18, 2018. The goal for the blood drive was 30 units. The Lodge has had this same goal for 4 years, and the most units ever collected was previously 28 units. That changed this past Saturday, when 31 units were donated.

TVCC SBDC selcomes Tom Westgate to Anderson County

Trinity Valley Community College’s Small Business Development Center has announced that Tom Westgate has joined the SBDC as Palestine based Anderson County Business Adviser. Westgate has a variety of work experience in large and small organizations bringing skills and knowledge in sales and marketing, employee management and motivational policies. He has access to all the research services and assets of the North Texas SBDC Network.

Obituary: Robert Henry Hodge

Funeral services for Robert Henry Hodge, 93 of Diana, Texas formerly of Athens have been scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Watson officiating.

Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.

Mr. Hodge passed away Saturday evening in Gilmer.

He was born October 17, 1924 in Henderson County to the late Jesse and Virgie Hodge. He resided in Henderson and Dallas Counties all his life and had recently moved to Diana to be closer to his sons. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a machinist for LTV Corp. for 25 years. He loved to farm and raise his cows and tend to his pecan crop.
