Tip leads to methamphetamine arrests

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Investigators Kendell Wellman and Kay Langford received information that parties inside a room at the Travelers Inn motel were distributing methamphetamines.

Wellman obtained a narcotics search warrant signed by 173rd District Judge Dan Moore. Wellman, Langford, Sheriff Ray Nutt, Chief Botie Hillhouse, Investigator Brad Beddingfield, Investigator Robert Powers and Athens PD Sgt. Uncle Fletch is back!

The Uncle Fletch Hamburger Festival will return to the Courthouse Square in Athens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. There is no admission fee for the festival.

Cross Roads is Army Strong in Week 3

ArmyCross Roads was named the Class 2A Army Values School of the Week for Week 3.

Dave Campbellā€™s Texas Football, in partnership with the U.S. Army, honors one school from each classification weekly with the Army Values School of the Week award. The schools selected throughout the course of this program have best exemplified the seven Army Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage.

“This is the result of three years of implementing change and a climate of excellence,” said High School Principal and Athletic Director Mack Lowe. “Our kids have worked hard in all UIL competitions and are reaping the benefits of their hard work.”
