TVCC offers hip hop dance class

Trinity Valley Community College’s Continuing and Workforce Education department will offer a Hip Hop dance class beginning Monday, Oct. 12. The 6-week class will be held Monday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Student Union Building on the Athens campus and will be taught by Sarah Cadungug, assistant choreographer/recruiter for the TVCC Cardettes. “Each week we will learn a new style of hip hop and a fun combination,” Cadungug said. “You will definitely leave the class knowing lots of new dance moves and feeling good.”

Man gets 14 Years for Evading With a Motor Vehicle

Though on the trial docket and set for announcement, James Sean Ricks acknowledged his guilt in Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and entered into a plea bargain this past Monday morning. The 45-year-old, who had been residing in Athens, will serve 14 years in prison for committing the offense.

Cardettes getting ready for State Fair of Texas parade

The Trinity Valley Community College Cardettes are getting ready for the State Fair of Texas parade in Dallas on Friday. They tweeted this Photo Tuesday morning.

And then the Dallas Morning News tweeted about the State Fair using a photo of the Cardettes.

Commissioners’ Court sets burn ban

BurnBan logoHenderson County Commissioners’ Court approved a two-week burn ban Tuesday morning.

Fire Marshal Shane Renberg told commissioners the county’s average Keetch-Byram Drought Index score was 667, with a high of 757. The KBDI is a measure of moisture in the soil, and a burn ban is recommended when the KBDI score is above 575.

Ignoring the burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500.
